Radio Bari
Radio Bari was an Italian radio station established in 1932, primarily broadcasting from Bari, Italy. It initially served as a regional station but gained prominence during World War II for its anti-fascist and pro-Allied propaganda aimed at the Balkans and the Mediterranean region. The station played a significant role in countering Axis propaganda, particularly targeting Yugoslavia and Albania. It broadcast news, political commentary, and cultural programs in multiple languages, including Italian, Serbo-Croatian, and Albanian. Operated by the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) and later by the Allied forces, Radio Bari became a key tool for psychological warfare. Its programs often featured messages of resistance and hope, encouraging opposition to Nazi and fascist regimes. After the war, the station shifted focus to domestic Italian programming. Today, Radio Bari is remembered as a symbol of anti-fascist resistance and a pioneer in international broadcasting. It holds historical significance for its role in shaping wartime propaganda and fostering cultural exchange.
